Brad grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan in May 2004. After graduation, Brad lived in Honduras, Costa Rica and Mexico where he taught English. In 2005, Brad launched his career in immigration as an Americorps Vista Volunteer in Miami, Florida assisting with refugee relocation. He has gained significant experience working at four immigration law firms and in a law school immigration clinic. Brad’s tasks have exposed him to a diverse array of permanent resident and temporary visa applications. Brad has focused his knowledge on the fundamentals of immigration court proceedings. In 2019, Brad was a selected as a Rising Star in immigration by "Super Lawyers" Magazine. Brad is an immigration consultant to the Mexican Consulate in Detroit to provide immigration legal representation for Mexican nationals. Brad is the media chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association for the state of Michigan and he founded the Washtenaw County Bar Association Immigration Law Section. Brad is fluent in Spanish and a graduate of Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan.
Meagan grew up in Dexter, MI and attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. She graduated in December of 2011 with a degree in Sociology and Spanish. Her passion for the Latino community and the Spanish language developed through multiple volunteer experiences both in the United States and abroad. Meagan joined the Immigration Law PLLC team in February of 2014. She has experience working on a variety of immigration cases at the firm. She currently handles cases including applications for permanent residency, citizenship, provisional waivers, temporary protected status, and DACA.
Jazmin Ortiz is originally from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Jazmin studied Law at the Tecnológico de Baja California, (TBC University) in Mexico. After graduation, Jazmin acquired more than ten years of experience working with the Consulate of Mexico in both Calexico, California and in Detroit, Michigan. Her primary area of support with the Mexican Consulate was in the area of Administration and Documentation. Jazmin handles a wide variety of tasks at the office including assisting with immigration court cases and various USCIS applications.
Sofia is from Ann Arbor, but she was fortunate enough to spend part of her childhood living in Rome, Italy. She is fluent in Italian, French and Spanish. In 2018, Sofia graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with a 4.0 GPA and with degrees in English literature (with High Honors) and French. After graduation, Sofia was awarded a Fulbright Grant and spent a year teaching English in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. While she was there, she volunteered at an immigration law firm to learn more about the differences between Mexican and American legal systems. Currently, she is a J.D. candidate at the University of Michigan Law School. Sofia’s passion for working with immigrants was ignited by participating in an Alternative Spring Break trip to El Salvador, where she met many families whose children had emigrated to the United States. After that trip, she began taking Spanish classes at the university and volunteering as a teacher for the Hispanic/Latino ministry at St. Mary Student Parish. She also spent the summer of 2017 working at the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center in Rome teaching French and Italian and working with French-speaking migrants. Sofia joined the firm in 2016 and her current responsibilities include writing provisional unlawful presence waivers and USCIS applications, along with drafting legal briefs and assisting in the office wherever her help is needed.
Brianne Recker is from Orchard Lake, Michigan, though she has resided in Madrid, Spain for the past two years. She graduated from the University of Michigan in December 2016 with a B.A. in Spanish and International Studies. These past two years she has been teaching English in Madrid, and this year she is doing a Masters in Journalism there. She started working at Immigration Law PLLC in 2015. Brianne's current role at the office is to aid in writing Provisional Waivers for Unlawful Presence. She is fluent in Spanish, and before moving to Madrid, she had studied in Granada, Spain for a semester and also worked at the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona, Spain for two months.
